The election of 2010 will be one of the most important elections in our nation’s history. We will decide if we as a nation continue the slide into socialism or if we reclaim our republic. In 1971, I took an oath as a young Marine second lieutenant to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” That oath has no expiration clause. That is why I’m running for Congress, and why I ask for your support. Here is my plan to redeem our country.
It’s the spending!
Today we face unsustainable budget deficits and out of control spending from a Congress that seems determined to dig our economic grave. We must reduce government spending by 42% just to stop digging the hole. Nothing will be exempt from scrutiny.
My plan:
- Eliminate unnecessary departments and agencies
- Re-authorize the Bush tax cuts
- Immediately repeal of the Obama health control bill. We can’t afford it and the American people don’t want it.
- Reclaim unspent “stimulus” money
Jobs, jobs, jobs!
Business creates jobs, not government. We must incentivize businesses to innovate and expand. We must develop new strategies to bring 21st century jobs to the 4th District.
My plan:
- Reduce the capital gains tax to zero to compete with China and India
- Reduce corporate tax rates from 35% to 12%
- “Fiber to the Farm” - bring fiber optic cable to the rural areas. The infrastructure is there to do this. The widespread availability of high speed internet will give our local businesses a world-wide market. It will open up the world to our children, give them access to a nationwide job market and allow them to remain in our communities.
In 2008, this nation elected a man who promised “change you can believe in,” only to discover that he wants to change what we believe in.
Here’s what I believe in:
- I am pro-life and commit to defend the right to life of all: the young, the old and the unborn. I oppose public funding of abortions.
- I am pro-family and commit to defend the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.
- I absolutely defend our right to keep and bear arms. I have no doubt what the founders meant when they wrote the words “shall not be infringed.”
- I commit to support TN’s state sovereignty as guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment.
