It's not just “Illegal Immigration”

Arizona Law SB 1070 has lit a firestorm of response on both sides of the question to the decades old problem our federal government has been “kicking down the street.” When our own President characterizes the law as a "misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system," something is indeed broken. And it’s not Arizona. I, for one, welcome the scrutiny SB1070 has brought to the issue of illegal immigration and the efforts the people of Arizona have made to solve this problem. Bravo! More states need to take similar actions.

But what is missing in all the anger by citizens of this country is the growing problem of “legal immigration.” Like the illegal immigration issue, this one has been going bad for decades with the efforts of the late Ted Kennedy and his ilk to slowly change the make up of legal immigration to this country. Overlooked by most American voters has been the dramatic shift from immigrants of European origins to “Third World” preferences. This is leading to a huge increase in immigration from Muslim countries. Obama’s very first Executive Order was to allocate $20 million dollars to aid “Palestinian refugee” immigration to the US, and your Congress approved this expense.

The liberals in Congress have been raising the numbers and effectively raising the ceiling of the Immigration Act of 1990. By generous use of the Political Asylum and Refugee Immigrant Relocation Programs they have brought an increasing number of Muslim immigrants to our country and then concentrated their relocation to states like Tennessee to “seed” a voter base. All one has to do is look at Bedford and Warren Counties’ increase of Somalia “refugees” and the strain that puts on local resources and the problem is obvious.

Has our Congress grown so blind to the experience of European countries with unchecked Muslim immigration as to bring the same to our shores? We have only to look at France and England who are fighting for their cultural identity as these immigrants seek to do through “legal” immigration today what they did through military subjugation in the 8th century.

Finallly, on May 19th Obama said to Mexican President Calderone, “In the 21st century we are defined not by our borders but by our bonds.” National sovereignty is at risk, and that risk is from within the Beltway at the highest reaches of our government. Legal and illegal immigration are the ying and yang of the issue. As your representative I will fight not only illegal immigration but also the twisted, politically correct path we are following in legal immigration.
